National Education Policy (NEP)-2020
Under Graduate Level (Bachelor) Programmes
(With effect from July 2024)
At SVKM’s NMIMS, NEP 2020 has been initiated from Academic Year 2024-25. NEP 2020 framework allows the opportunity to the students to experience the full range of holistic and multidisciplinary education in addition to a focus on the chosen major and minors as per their choices and the feasibility of exploring learning in different institutions.
The syllabi of these programmes have been designed broadly, considering the suggestions as prescribed by the NEP, 2020. Provisions have been made to facilitate the students to choose the option of Hons / Hons with Research degree after successful completion of the fourth year of the programme.
Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, our institution has introduced a range of new and engaging courses designed to make learning more holistic, practical, and meaningful. These include Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Courses, Life Skill Courses, and Value-Added Courses. Together, they help students stay connected to India’s heritage while gaining the confidence and skills needed to succeed in today’s world.
Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Courses
The IKS Courses celebrate India’s rich traditions and timeless knowledge. They help students understand how ancient Indian ideas and innovations continue to shape modern science, culture, and daily life.
By blending traditional wisdom with modern education, these courses inspire curiosity, creativity, and a sense of pride in our heritage.

- Discover India’s achievements in science, mathematics, architecture, Ayurveda, yoga, and philosophy.
- Learn values of ethics, sustainability, and harmony drawn from Indian thought.

Courses offered like Indian Thought & Management, India Socio Political Economics System & Current Affairs, Indian Cultural Heritage, Understanding India, Alternative Systems of Medicine, Constitution of India, Indian Ethos and Business Ethics in Pharma, Indian Polity, etc…..
Life Skill Courses
Our Life Skill Courses focus on the most important lessons of all — how to handle life with confidence, empathy, and resilience.
These courses go beyond textbooks, helping students communicate better, solve problems creatively, and work effectively with others.

Through IKS, Life Skill, and Value-Added Courses, we aim to provide an education that balances tradition with innovation — helping students grow not just academically, but as thoughtful, capable, and value-driven individuals ready to shape the future.
EXIT POLICY UNDER NEP 2020 :
- If a student takes exit either at the end of the first year or at the end of the second year, the nomenclature of outcome will be as given below:
- Exit at the end of the first year:
E.g. UG Certificate (Business Administration), UG Certificate (Economics) etc.,
- Similarly, in case a student takes exit at the end of the second year of the program, the following nomenclature of the program may be used
E.g. UG Diploma (Business Administration), UG Diploma (Economics) etc.,
- The degree certificate, which will be issued at the end of the third year, will have the respective nomenclature, such as Bachelor of Business Administration.
- The degree certificate, which will be issued to the students who complete four years with Honours, the nomenclature will be the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons).
- The degree certificate, which will be issued to the students who complete four years with Research, the nomenclature will be the Bachelor of Science (Hons with Research).
