He started his lecture by giving a brief overview of his affiliated institute, University College Dublin in Ireland, and gave useful information about their courses and education in general in Ireland and the associated job opportunities. The lecture focussed on the different causal inference methods that are currently being deployed in the research domain in Economics as well as other social science disciplines. He mainly spoke about methods like controlled regression, difference in difference, regression discontinuity design, instrument variables, and synthetic controls. Students also raised some queries regarding the methods which were then addressed by the speaker diligently.
Finally, students asked clarificatory questions on education and job opportunities in Ireland and the course curriculum at UCD. Prof. Denny answered all questions along with the associate Mrs. Wendy who provided useful insights on the job market opportunities in Ireland. The lecture concluded with Prof. Soumya Chakraborty handing Prof Denny a memento on behalf of SAMSOE, NMIMS Mumbai.
